Grandpa Byma has been set free from his battle with Alzheimer's and is now at home with his Heavenly Father. This is a hard day for the Schierbeek and Byma families. Tracy heard the news this morning from her family and was able to stay "home" for the day and make a couple phone calls and talk to family. Please pray for peace for Tracy and her family as this is a time where family draws near, and yet she is so far away from home.
This morning after church, the congregation gathered in the sanctuary and prayed together for people that were suffering mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We had a small group of about 15 people that were joining hands and praying for the Schierbeeks. It was awesome to see God's family join together and pray for those in need of comfort. Although we are going to miss Grandpa Byma, he is now rejoicing with the angels. "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds." Psalm 73:26 & 28

Tracy, I'm so sorry about your grandpa. I know exactly feel and can't begin to imagine how lonesome you probably are for your family. Hearing about your gramps just brought back waves of emotions from when grandpa beute died. Keep your light shining even though there may seem to be a dark cloud above you. God has you where you are for a reason. We were reminded this morning of the heroism of Esther. She stepped inside a risky room in order for the king to provide Israel a defense. You are in a risky room, stepping up and sharing God's word. For that, you are a hero. I love you Trace and am praying especially hard for you now as you mourn your grandpa and yet try to stay encouraged for the rest of your trip. Love, Lindsey
Tracy,
I wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my (and my family's) prayers. Like Lindsey said, I know about the different feelings that arise with losing a grandparent and it brings back memories. I pray that God gives you strength and a sense of peace. Know that many people are thinking about you. I miss you but am so happy that you have been given this opportunity to be a light for God. I have always wanted to help out at an orphanage so I am living through your experiences :). I love you!
Tracy, we are praying for you and your family this week. For you to stay busy and focused and not to be homesick especially while wondering what is happening at home. Stay strong.
Tracy- I am so sorry about your grandpa-
Dear Tracy, Since there were times when Grandpa Byma seemed to be doing quite well we were so hoping the Lord would leave him here until you got home, but obviously it was time the Lord called him home. How glorious it must be there! We are thankful for the promise that we are given strength for each new day and we pray for an extra measure of it for you now. Although your heart will be heavy I have no doubt you will be very effective in showing God's love in your VBS. 200 sounds like a lot of kids!!!
Lots of love and prayers.
Gram and Gramps

Tracy, God's timing never makes sense to us. I know your Grandpa is very proud of you. Having the courage to spread the word in far away places! Give the kids extra hugs for all of us back home. Because of you, they may see us all in our heavenly home. (I love your song in the background!)
You are in our prayers.
From your mom's long time friend,
Eileen
Tracy,
Email-what a great way to connect across the world! Our overseas trips gave us very limited access to our family. Wonderful improvements.
We are hearing good things about your experiences and are thankful for your adjustment and health. Hope you are feeling more at ease in your surroundings-primitive as they may be. It's surprising what you can do without-it keeps life pretty simple.
We will have to call you the VBS queen! 400 kids-wow! You each will have a classroom-we will pray for this challenge.
We wish you God's peace in the death of your Grandpa. Don't be shy about grieving when you feel sad-it's normal and healthy and will help you. Share your feelings and put your hand in God's. Hugs from the Scholtens. Your family is doing well in the midst of their changing lives-they are strong, proud of you, and keeping out of trouble.
